just got this camera about an hour ago. Battery is charging and I will post some of my pics maybe by tomorrow.

Took the whole day to find this camea.. sold out everywhere in so cali. including
best buy/circuit city/good guys/comp usa/ritz/frys electroncis etc. etc.
well i found the last one at fry's @ anaheim hills and grabbed it.

hopefuly i won't be disappointed..
The advantage of owing a small camera - you never debate whether to
bring it along!

Caught these shots with 3 kids in tow... heavy DSLR equipment would
have been a major pain! [Of course trade off would be resolution
etc but then again, it's not always with me!]

Hi,

I'm the next satisfied s230 (ixus v3) user who is ready to publish some amateur shots:

http://www.pbase.com/tk8

Had my ixus for a month so far. It is my first digital camera, so i can not compare it with others. But i think the quality of pictures is very good.

And the size of the camera... wow. Although i miss the shutter/aperture manual settings, i think it was worth to spend the money.

Best regards,
Tonis

...thought I'd have a look at your pic. Good shot G...too bad you didn't enter it into the last Canon Talk Forum photo challenge!

Thanks Dan! The pic was taken with a mini tripod, at the time I wished I had a full sized one for increased stability...man I love my S230!

The same goes for me.

My only concerns are the really terrible red eye problem and, not such a problem but still surprising to me- no indication of battery power.

Although I am the proud owner of a Fuji 6900 digi cam, I have always been sorry that I parted with my Ixus L1 APS camera, which was a brilliant mini camera which I could carry with me very easily.

Naturally the s 230 was an obvious choice but I spent weeks searching the net looking at every review I could find on all types of digi cams.

Anyway today I finally made the decision and bought the s230.

Ok, I've only had the camera about 3 hours but I've taken several indoor photos and download them into my PC.

I know it's early days but my main gripe with the Fuji was low light problems and I was so pleased to find that the s230 copes very well with this.

Although not an expert I have 2 years of taking digi photos and at this moment in time I am very impressed.

Watch this space.

hey guys, instead of each person posting a new message when they
have a new gallery of s230 pics, why don't we all post to THIS
thread only. this way, if people are looking for samples, they
don't have to search all over; they can come right to this thread.
forum rules allow this right?

anyway, here's mine.

please add yours to the list so we can all see. :)

Hi Jessica:

I have the same worries about my new S230. I posted some pictures using my old Kodak DC265 (not even 2 MP!) vs the S230 shooting the same subject. check it out at http://cactusfan.nease.net/dc265S230.htm

You can see that in terms of sharpness, the Kodak wins, but in all other aspects, the S230 comes out top.

I think the bottom line is that the S230 is a point and shoot, with smaller optics, and this is just what comes with the territory.

I'm happy as long as my S230 performs as it should. It's small size was the selling point for me.

I just set up an account at PBase and uploaded some sample pics
from my CP 880. If the V3/S230 can match this level of
noise/sharpness, I'll be more than satisfied.

Hope to hear some good news.

Which has a double velcro for security and yet ease of attachment and detachment from the belt. From your pics it appears that you have to take off your belt to release the PSC-100?
Posted some shots of the Canon PSC-100 soft case for the S230. New
users may want to take a look.

Has slots for extra CF card and battery, belt loop, and tight
enclosure for camera.
