thumbs up for the 20-50mm kit lens

There are times when my beloved 30mm is not wide enough and there are times when (in company) shots must be taken quickly and the convenience of a zoom cannot be denied - in such cases the 20-50 kit lens does not let me down.

Here's a simple record shot of the medieval centre of Saint Yrieix sur Perche in the centre of France, a little "fill light" and a little perspective correction gives a result from a tiny camera that would have been really difficult to achieve 10 years ago.

Well I like my 16mm too but for my needs it's so wide that I have to engage a different part of my brain to do extra wide composition

Yeah but cropping throws away some of those 20 Mpixels that we've waited years for (and spent money on )

huh? wasting? that is misconception. point of megapixel increase is ability to crop and print huge pictures. it is waste if 20MP is used only for web full viewing small picture and print small. no point having 20MP if not used as made for.
