How to remove broken GGS screen protector

About a year and a half ago I bought a used K-7. It had a "GGS" screen protector on it.

Now that screen protector has broken. I looked up how to remove it on the GGS website, but they say to use a "plastic flake" which I suppose they included with the screen protector. However the person who sold the K-7 to me did not include anything like that:

Any suggestions on how I can remove the broken GGS screen protector without mangling the K-7?

BTW the force that broke it was very slight; I didn't even realize what had happened until later. Much less force that their website seems to indicate. Basically I just stepped backward into stove handle. I normally carry it diagonally on a shoulder, and it had somehow twisted around backwards behind me. I heard a very faint "crack" but it was so faint and I had applied so little pressure that I didn't think anything of it until a couple minutes later when I noticed the broken glass. Nothing like that ever happened to my *ist D in eight years with no screen protector.

Thanks,

Greg

Re: How to remove broken GGS screen protector

Your caution is well founded. I had read a sad and ironic post somewhere about someone trying to remove a glass protector. They cracked it taking it off but the force and angle of the sharp edge was such that the protector damaged the screen it was meant to protect. I guess that means try not to flex it upwards.

Someone says dental floss works:

Try using dental floss.

A thin guitar string or cheese wire should also work - dental floss tends to fray when I try to do similar (removing glued-on plastic emblems and such)

Hope you get it sorted

I second the dental floss.  I have removed several of them with it.  It just takes a little patience and a few pieces of floss.  I use a back and forth cutting motion with the floss under a corner and work across the protector.

Thanks - removed it with dental floss

Thanks all, I removed it with dental floss. It was very easy; hardly any back & forth motion required. Three baby wipes later all the goo is removed too.

Now the only problem is that the dust that I had thought was behind the screen protector, is in fact behind the screen itself.
