To people that own 70-200 2.8 is II and 24-70 2.8 II

Which one stays on your camera most of the time?

24-70 II for general purpose, 70-200 II for sports.  It's a very, very nice pair of lenses to own.

I own both.  The 24-70II has taken over the camera.  At least 80% of the shots.

I love the 70-200, but the weight and size often make me leave it at home.  I no longer feel like I have to use it to get great shots. whereas pre-24-70II the 70-200 was my go-to lens.  I've even entertained the thought of selling the 70-200.  Nahhhh, what am I thinking?

Recently had the good fortune to buy both these lens to go with a new 5D MkIII. So far I would have to say the 24-70 is on for 60% of the time but oh I do love the 70-200!

And if you add a 2xIII to the perfect 70-200 II you have an excellent combo;

you may find in time that these will be mostly the only lenses you'll be using, yes, they're that good (ignore all comments like "my 70-200 4 is so much better", or "24-105 is so a better lens, plus IS..."

simply put: if you afford them they will replace anything else you may have in their respective focal length.

+1. Yep, I had the f4s and while they were good lenses the 2.8 IIs beat them everywhere except in the weight and price departments. My preferred walk around lens is my 100-400f4.5-5.6L IS............on bright sunny days, but I find myself using the 70-200f2.8L IS II more and more lately. Use the 24-70f2.8L II 25% of the time and the 16-35f2.8L II, oophs forgot I even had a 16-35f2.8L II.

But I use the 16-35 more than my 70-200.

That's basically it.  Plus it's not as large and heavy and draw attention to the same degree as whitey.
