75-300mm Simple graphic to show FOV
9

Hello,

This is just an exercise in the FOV for those debating what the lens can do regards reach. I bought it primarily for landscapes or occasional city detail shots.

The wide picture is 12mm, then the 75mm is the first overlay, and the 300mm the second. All handheld. IS on.

I hope this is useful to someone. (Note, I shifted my view as I didn't plan this, so the building in the 75mm is in a different place, but the background horizon is overlaid properly.

12mm

Wide 12mm shot with 75mm and 300mm overlays

75mm shot as highlighted in the above overlay

300mm shot as highlighted in the above overlay

David.

I think you misunderstood - the overlay refers to the actual picture taken at 300mm "overlaid" on the 12mm view; to show where the lens zoomed in to.

The shot is only slightly altered in post. Resized OOC here:

I wanted to show a more realistic representation of the FOV of the 75-300mm, with the actual pictures taken at that time/place. Hopefully, people can easily see the whether this zoom could be useful for them.

I also like this picture, so thanks. It shows the old and emerging skyline, and the pollution involved in creating the new China.

Regards,

David.

Lovely imagery.

This is a fine example of a type of exercise that tries to find a complete scene within a scene - an exercise for one's compositional 'eye' (often advised to practice within a 50 foot circle about where one is sitting/standing, but it translates well to any scope of view).  I used to carry 2 cameras for landscapes, having one on the tripod for the WA while working the other with a tele-zoom - often the tele-photo lens produced the more stunning snippets of the moment.

This is also a good promo for the lens [g].

Yes, I like it when I have time to stay in one spot and look around more. Often, I have people with me who are as interested in photography as I am in shopping for shoes.

Classic problem but you could combine your interrests. Take pictures of the shoe shopping process and the aquired shoes. Then you'll get street photo, fashion modelling and product photo practice and also a person who will start taking interrest in your pictures.

Just my Swedish Krona of opinion!
