No, HERE is a lesson for you in butt ugly.

Well they are ugly, for sure. But some 'tools' are still beautiful, aside from their functionality. Nikon SP rangefinder for instance. Nothing wrong with enjoying that beauty.

It's nice to say that nice pictures are nice. (sarcasm)

It is a brick with some dials, no smooth lines, nothing pleasing to the eye. It looks like the Japanese were attempting to knock of some other brand poorly. Sharp angles, yes butt ugly. There is nothing beautiful about it and no beauty to enjoy, My examples are much more beautiful, you can tell that someone actually thought about the astetics of the camera unlike the Nikon SP. We will never agree because beauty is in the eye of the beholder which was my point..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I seriously would not call the Nikon SP 'butt ugly'.

HERE, for your education, is 'butt ugly'... the Traid Corporation Fotron III camera sold door to door in about 1960 for the same approximate price as a basic Nikon F kit.

Re: "Beautiful cameras". Whats next?

Beautiful cameras?! They're for taking pics, not taking pics of them. You mention some obscure Canon model that maybe 27 folks owned. Better DSLRs are very functional and customizable which makes them beautiful to me. How customizable were the old Canon film SLRs??? - they weren't! I owned a few of them. Times are great now compared to the dinosaur days of SLR film hell, though theres a lot of useless fluff appearing on digi-cams too.

Its like an artist that admires his new brushes versus actually using them.

I would only buy a beautiful camera to display in my curio cabinet. I do not really care what my regular camera looks like. Nobody ever looked at any of my photos and said 'but what does your camera look like?'

People who buy cameras because they think that they're beautiful, and then excuse and ignore problems with the camera because they like the appearance so much, those are the people who need a reality check.

Is my Canon 7D beautiful? I appreciate it for what it can do, not how it looks.

Most beautiful camera ever made - Sony RX1 - no jokes, seriously. It grows over you.

Most ugliest - any current DSLR - they are made with no design in mind - butt ugly. Plain an simple.

LOL. Your camera needs a Braille owners manual.

Is that with or w/o the flash popped up and the viewfinder attached?

Seriously, the iPhone is so much prettier. None of those hanging on knobs and stuff.

Jet fighter cockpits are ugly as well.

Re: What is the most beautiful camera ever made?

In the modern era, some of the Nikon SLRs with bodies designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro are quite pleasing to my eyes. The F4 comes to mind, and of the cameras I own, I would think that the F6 has a decent degree of beauty, especially if paired with a nice lens. Some lenses are ugly!

I also like the look of Leica rangefinder cameras, and some rangefinder-inspired cameras. Olympus film SLR cameras tend to be quite easy on the eyes. (I do not own any of either.)

While I cannot name any specific models from memory, some of the large-format film cameras, with nice wood exteriors, are quite beautiful.

I have yet to buy a camera based solely upon its beauty, though someday I might do so.

I wear a badge and pistol, and, primarily with 7D cameras, shoot evidentiary images at night, which incorporates elements of portrait, macro, still life, landscape, architecture, PJ, and occasional action.

The two cameras look more alike than not alike both are a bx with strange edges and angles. The Nikon looked better because it had a nice looking lens which helps it but take of the lens and the looks very similar, which is why they are both butt, this one looks even more butt ugly because it looks cheaply made. But neither camera has any beauty to it.

I like the look of the M3 with the 1.4 on it, but I think the Rollei 35S looks great.

Also, I really like the old Nikon Coolpix 4500.

For modern, I've always liked the curvy lines on Canon's EOS SLRs.

Vintage, got to go with Hasselblad. Maybe also for ugliest "good" camera - the new Lunar (though that old Argus is certainly right up there).

"Ahh... But the thing is, these guys were no ORDINARY time travellers!"

And it is the only 35mm camera I know of which had a 'portrait' oriented frame when held in the normal horizontal position -- and it x-synched at 1/500th.

And had a full line of excellent glass. And adapters for most others.

Too bad Olympus never produced this exact design in a digital form.

Copper colored Sony a330

I love my copper colored Sony a330. It is a stunning looking camera, much better in person than the photos show. But I am the only person on the planet that thinks this way. It was a sales failure and that was the last DSLR/SLT Sony offered in any color other than black. As an interesting side note, I was in Utah visiting my brother when the camera arrived in the mail. That afternoon we went to the Kennecott Copper Mine for a tour, which was purely coincidental.
