Remote trigger or intervalometer for RX100?

Any way to remotely trigger the RX100 or do intervalometer shooting?

No without a remote port on the camera it can't be done. I have the same problem with the RX-1. The small size comes with price.

I would live to see Sony add this with a firmware update, but I don't see that happening.

The Canon point and shoot cameras can  be triggered through the USB port if you add CHDK firmware. Also this firmware allows scripts which add intervalometer functions.

The RX100 II supports sonny's Sony's new wired remote, but not the RX100. If you want that for an RX100, you'd have to use something based on a servo.

The RXII supports wifi and apps though right? Therefore through play memories you can control the shutter wirelessly with your smart phone no?

Yes, but that doesn't mean you have an intervalometer. Though, it seems people have figured out enough of the NEX wifi API that an intervalometer controlled from an Android device would be doable.

I'm interested in this also for the RX100 II. I'm thinking that the Multi Terminal connector or maybe even the Multi Interface Shoe would facilitate this. It would be great if one of these or something similar would work.

There isn't a "good" way, but for a quick hack you can put it in continuous shooting mode and strap a rubber band and small plastic object to keep the shutter pressed. You can control the speed by saving RAW and using a slower card.

Not a very elegant method but hey, it's a solution, better than nothing

You shouldn't expect people who wake up long dead threads to care about small details like that.......

In the mean time Sony has developed a Playmemories-App called "Timelapse" which does exactly that. One can select from presets (who does that anyway?) but there is also a custom mode where one can shoot with his own selection of ISO/Aperture/Shutterspeed etc. The interval can be set from 1 to 60 seconds in one second steps, and the number of pictures to be taken can also be set
Here is the link , I hope this helps.
