No flash allowed

I've had the K-5II for a while, now. I mostly use it for ballet presentations, and it's been a real workhorse (more than 12K photos in the past week).

Today was my daughter's kindergarten festival, and I tought I'd try the K-5II's AF in extreme low light. I used (like almost always) the 50-135mm f/2.8.

ISO 12,800

1/15s

f/3.2

p.s. My 50-135 needs some servicing. It's got a creak from 90mm to 135mm, and it kind of gets stuck @135mm. Bummer. I've had it for 3.5 years now.

Its good they said no flashing allowed this appears to be a kids event after all and you know how bad the uproar from the parents would be if the kids were flashed throughout the event.

LOL

Anyhow well done, sorry to hear about your troubles with the lens

Re: No flash allowed

Really a nice shot.  Hard to believe that was shot at ISO 12800.  I shot film thru 2010 and we could barely do that good at ISO 400 with Fuji Provia 400.  Negative film was a little bit better but things went to hell in a hand basket after ISO 1000 in my book.

Just amazing the low light capabilities of the K-5 series cameras.

Nice shot!  It took me over a year to learn that lens (or the firmware caught up with it  ).  It is one of my favourites now.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays sound, but mine doesn't get as much use for me as it sounds like yours does.

Cheers

Re: No flash allowed

Fortunately, the stage was mostly well lit, so I used 3200/6400 ISO.

Re: No flash allowed

50-135 & ISO 51,200 on a K5 with about 100K exposures.  From back of the theater.  I did use the default setting of Noiseware.
