When might there be a new EOS M body - M2?

EOS M prices are really going down. Does this mean there might be a new model, maybe EOS M2 coming out soon?
I dont know whether to buy or wait!

The EOS M was announced July 23, 2012.

The EOS M is currently available at a significant discount, which may indicate that Canon is clearing out old inventory before announcing a new model.

My wild speculation is that we will see it in August-September.

(I haven't read any rumors on the subject.)

Could just be that the camera isn't selling as well as they anticipated.

That's probably true too.

Another curious thing: A few weeks ago, in the newspaper, there was a glossy (eight page?) Canon advertisement that included just about everything, including the slow selling G1 X. Missing from that advertisement was any mention of the EOS M. It makes me wonder if Canon was giving the EOS M an "advertising time out", in preparation for the launch of the EOS M2.

The bottom line: Only Canon knows, and I haven't read any rumors on the subject.

Or they've given up on a slow-selling product that was panned by reviewers.   The initial price was way too high.   It's about right now, but still a dog.   Canon has moved on to pushing the SL1.

As Canon has just announced a new ultra wide angle for the EOS M as well as a firmware update which improves significantly the AF performance, it is highly unlikely that they are giving up on the system.

A couple of weeks ago I had a chat with a couple of Canon reps, and they said that the firmware update improves focus speed by 30-40%.

I had a play with one today, and apart from the focus speed, I think it's a nice camera. Build quality is excellent, menu system simple and straight forward, good screen. I was particularly impressed by the build quality of the kit zoom.
