D7100 always on?

Quick question about my D7100. Even when my D7100 is "off" it always displays the number of shots left on the top LCD, is this normal/ok?

100% Normal.  Enjoy.

My opinions are my own and not those of DPR or its administration. They carry no 'special' value (except to me and Lacie of course)

Top LCD uses very little energy without backlight. So it is unlikely to affect battery live in any significant way.

On most modern computer controlled devices, ie phones, computers, camera, etc, OFF is not really OFF.  The internal clock is still running and a lot more on your phone and computer.

Besides the shots left, it is also remembering your last settings and time.
