EPL5+14 2.5
6

After I tried 17/1.8 and 25/1.4, I have found that the pana 14/2.5 is a great combination for my EPL5.It is easy for me to adjust the composition of the image and put in my pocket every day. Here are some pictures of this combo. http://500px.com/photo/37248058

I have also heard that the SONY ECU1 can attach to pana 14. Have anyone tried this cheapest wide angle combination, which is equivalent to 21mm in 35 mm format?

Last weekend, I have met Olympus representatives and tried EP5 in Dodd Camera. The EP5 and EM5 are definitely better than EPL5 in almost everywhere expect image quality. In addition, The VF4 is the best EVF in the world now, but the only problem is the price.

Hi! NICE photos.

The ultra wide angle SONY ECU1 will definitely NOT attach to the front of the pana 14 lens. The pana 14/2.5 has a 46 mm filter thread and will take any one of four custom conversion lenses (which are especially made for the pana G lenses, like the 14)

http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/01/09/Panasonic_Converterlenses

The Sony ECU1 has a bayonet mount which only fits onto the crappy Sony NEX 16SEL2.8 lens or the new/much better 20SEL2.8.

Like the Panny 14 is fitted to my E-PL3 and is in my pocket or pack with the VF2 attached.

Except for one factor -- both are too big for comfortable pocketing.

BUT I would be ready to make the upgrade if the EP5 had a built-in EVF. It hasn’t so it is cactus as far as I'm concerned.

Let's see what the GX2 is like -- or it's the G6 for me.

Cheers, geoff

Jason, both images look great. I could not tell in the first image but when I did a View: original size

approximately the entire left 15% of the entire left side. It seems it has about a 10-15% detail loss compared to the right side, especially in the trees. You may want to do some tests on that lens to confirm? You can't really tell until you look at it a 100%, but you may want to check it out.

Re: EPL5+14 2.5

Well. I have all the basic ingredients, same as your photo. (I operate both m43 and NEX systems.)

- a Panasonic G1.

- a Pana. 14/2.5 lens.

- a Sony ECU-1 UWA converter.

They DO NOT fit together. There's not even a vistage of any adapter showing in your image.....

PLEASE DEMONSTRATE,  HOW DID YOU DO THAT? !!!

Well. The ECU-1 is able to attach to the front of the pana 14 lens.

Your right, but it has virtually no bearing on the photo whatsoever ...at least from a non-technical standpoint. The 14 is a great lens that has it's shortcomings, no need to test. ...what would you rather look at, this or the ol' brick wall test?

All I was trying to do is let the OP know that there was an issue with about 15% of the left side of his images. Hopefully he has time to return it as I would if I had the same issue no matter what lens I had. If he ever prints large prints, it would be noticeable for landscapes, etc... and that would be a shame if he still has a chance to exchange it.

Re: EPL5+14 2.5

Jason,

The member who cobbled together the image of the G2 + Pana 14/2.5+ SONY NEX ECU1 must be a troll; I challenged him on the impossibility of this combination but he has not replied. I advise ignoring his post.

Nice photos! I assume you've also looked at the Panasonic DMW-GWC1 Wide Converter. It's just a bit more expensive than the Sony but would also convert the 14mm into a 11mm f2.5. Now this is a cheap alternative to the 12 f2.

Thank you tron555, I haven't seen this issue before you mentioned. I will try it later.  Unfortunately, it is a second hand lens, so I couldn't exchange it. The seller only asked me for $100.
