Canon 100 - 400mm f/4.5 - 5.6L IS USM

I have this Lens on Every weekend for Wildlife and or  Sport,all the time,True it does need an update and not a great fan of push pull lense so come on Canon pull your finger out.

However in the right light or unless you go up the ISO setting you do get GREAT RESULTS from it....

New version is probably on the way. Expect a price increase of at least 50%

I have been waiting also . Now Tammy has released the 150-600 in Japan and will be here in the states next month . [ $ 1069 ]

This might wake up Canon . That lens is going to cut into the 100-400 market a bunch - at 500 cheaper than the 100-400 , it will be hard to keep on shelves / in stock .

I have the Quantrary 70-300 macro [ Sigma ] and the 135-400 Sigma , 70-200 mk ii +2 X II - so no big rush for the 100 - 400 - I was waiting for a faster one .

Now you tell me Tammy has released the 150-600 - that is 320 mm longer on my 7 D  - I am not the only one interested .

I really don't think the new 200-400L and the 100-400L are competitors in any way. The price difference is just too great ($11,299 vs $1,699). Anyone seriously considering the 200-400L is not thinking, well maybe the 100-400L will work for me.

I do think that a new 100-400L with a new generation IS and probably not push-pull (a shame, because I like the push pull on this lens) will be released in the not too distant future. However, I think when it is released, many of the people holding out for it will be disappointed with the cost increase. I would bet $2700+.

I will probably stick with my excellent Canon referb 100-400L that looks absolutely new, takes great pictures and cost under $1,200. I love Canon referb lens sales!
