Any good (recent) deals on a 5700?

I'm ready to buy, but the OfficeMax price match is a bust, since they no longer carry the 5700.

Ebay has some interesting packages (Titanium filters, teles/wide, tripods, etc), but I can build my own setup.

Just looking for a good price from a no BS (bait and switch) retailer.

Any help is appreciated.

there are a number of price comparison sites on the web; one that I find quite good is http://www.pricegrabber.com
Be sure to look carefully at the ratings of the dealers.

Dell currently has its usual 10% off deal on Digital Cameras. No sales tax (at least in CA) and free shipping. I just ordered mine this week...paid an extra $20 for overnight delivery but I got the camera the very next day!

If you have an AmEx Rewards Gold Card with the 'Best Value Guarantee' you can get AmEx to price match one of the less reputable dealers and get an additional $250 off the Dell price.

For no hassle, you might check dbuys.com--that's where I got my 5700. It was about $950.

Officemax carries the cp5700, but only online. They will pricematch it. I used bilibi.com, as they sell the whole kit like officemax. My buddy bought a dimage 7hi from bilibi directly, and got it in a few days without hassle, but he did buy some extra stuff.

Marty, did OM give you any hassle with PM to bilibi? Why did you choose bilibi as the PM source? Was it the cheapest? I ask because usually they will not PM shady NY camera vendors. I haven't checked out bilibi.com so I am not implying this is the case. Just speaking from past experience.

I did try to order from OM online last night, but the order would not process. I called customer Service and they told me the 5700 was out of stock and discontinued (already??)

I was going to try again today, but forgot until I saw your post.

I tried again and the order went through with a delivery of 11/12. I also sent OM the PM form from Digital Dealz for $778.

Corporations - Go figure.

Apparently, you cannot process a PM online until after you place an order.

For whatever reason, I could not complete the online order for the 5700. When I called OM directly, they told me (after some checking???), that it was out of stock and discontinued.

I reordered it online successfully today and send them the PM form from Digital Dealz.

The shady NY vendor thing is funny. Other than simple PM procedures and rules, nowhere does it say that OM can arbitralily analyze a competitor, to determine if they are worthy of a PM. A PM is a PM.

Their customer service will be hearing from me if they try that.
