How to shoot Time Lapse with a T1i?

So I know I either need an intervalometer (or wahtever it's called) or I can hook the camera up to my laptop, which is what I'll want to do to start with.

Main question is, what software from Canon do I need to contorl the picture taking over time?  I see a ton of various software items when I go to the Software page at Canon.com.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_rebel_t1i#DriversAndSoftware

Can anyone help with what software I need and maybe some quick info on how I go about using it?

Thanks!

I don't know that Canon will help you, but you can try Magic Lantern. I haven't tried this feature of that software, so I don't know how well it works. But it's free and you don't need the laptop connection.

Canon's "EOS Utility" is what you need.  Hook up the camera to the USB port, turn on the camera  and open EOS Utility.  Select: "Camera Settings/Remote Shooting."  This will open the camera control module.  In the center of the pop-up screen on the right hand side is an icon of a clock face.  Click on this icon and the rest should be self explanatory.

Wow, I forgot I made this since there was no email updates before.  Glad to see what was finally added.

I'll hopefully be able to give this a try this weekend so I'll let you know how it goes.
