Samsung NX10 surprises in New York.
2

Hi All

I was recently in New York, and did not want to bring my heavy gear (Nikon D3, D800 and heavy lenses), as the main reason for the visit was not photographing.

So i brought my "old" NX10 with 20-50 and 30 mm. Very compact and light

I love nighttime photography, and had a few try´s with the NX10, and i really surprices me how well they came out, on this "old" sensor.

Offcourse this camera cannot compare with my Nikon gear, but i think it did a very reasonable job.

(This is by the way not HDR, but a single shot)

You can see some of my older work with the D3 here.

I was thinking about the Fuji EX1 for my next travelight companion, but think i will look for a NX20 or wait for the NX30.

Very nice pic! If you can live w/o evf, you'd love the nx300.

So far all Samsung NX can do long exposures better than most things I seen. No clue why its that, but simply is.

You're right, that is a surprisingly good photo.

But I think you've probably got the skills to get nice pics out of a box-Brownie if that's all you had

I like the star shaped highlights on the bridge.

Great job!

Yes, I also noticed them  did you use a star filter? Or did you simply pp the lights?

Hi

Thanks for the comments.

The stars are not PP or a starfilter. They are simply made by the lens, useing a smaller aperture, in this case 5.6 was enough to create it in the the "shot".

Allan, that looks stunning!

It makes one wonder what more, if anything, you could have done with your heavy gear.

Congratulations! You got an amazing night scene! That NX20-50mm is very sharp and compact (what I don´t like about it is that rotating front element). To me, It is a zoom lens that seems to have a "character"... and those stars @f5.6(!) made It!

When you say "Offcourse this camera cannot compare with my Nikon gear, but i think it did a very reasonable job."  I think you already have compared. ;-).
