Tripod Pan handle came off.. Help requested

I have been using a Vista Explorer 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod. I know this is a crappy $25 tripod and I probably got what I paid for. I was pretty happy with it for using my NEX5n. Couple of days before as I was getting it out of the bag the pan handle came off and a nut also came loose.  This might sound stupid, but I cant find out where the nut came out from so I can put it back in place. Here is a picture of it. Does any one know or have any suggestions? Appreciate any help.

The exact same thing happened to me. I know this post is almost a year old, but I was wondering if you ever found a way to get this fixed?

Most likely, there is a slot for the nut somewhere.    Probably underneath or on the 'inside' side.

That's what I figure, too. Somehow the handle has to thread though that nut, and the nut has to go inside the head. Looks really common, too, so a replacement nut can be found at any hardware store if it is stripped.

Hi,

Please go to the following Tiffen link, and in the left column click on

if you look on the back side of the tripod pan head, the rear of where the handle goes in you will find a slot to reinsert the nut.

good luck

Hi Lordshadow: I'm from the Philippines and I bought the same tripod wayback 2014 when I had job assignment in US. I also had the same problem with yours just last night  6/30/2016 but after 1hour of trial and error and full effort of trying to fit the nut in the middle of the gap, at last I've found out where the nut should belong. The nut has a special place rear back under area of the screw panel where you insert the handle. Just turn upside down and I'm sure you can find it.  No need to take off the round plastic nut because you can just insert the nut under. Please refer to the picture. I hope that I was able to help you on your problem even it's already 2years ago. I was just happy the I've figure it out and would like to share and help others.
