A fine combo for shooting subjects four feet away. Which eliminates candid, intimate compositions.

Looking forward to some warmer weather with my D7100 and new 70-200 F4. It's not a full range, but an excellent, quality balance. An 18-200 or 28-300 is easy, but the quality is not up to the D7100.

Works very good with the 70-200. I have this lens f2.8. here taken from a 50m' distance with this lens.

Still: A fine shot, with sufficient range to observe a scene without being involved.

One huge virtue of the F4 over the F2.8 for walk-around shooting is weight. The 2.8 is 50% heavier. I just sold my 300 F4 (same weight as the 2.8) to buy the 70-200 F4. The lighter lens is so much more comfortable and enjoyable. And, shooting is much steadier after an hour or two!
