Image quality NX210/200/1000 to Canon G1X, Olympus E-PM3 and others

I am planning to buy the NX1000, which seems to be pretty much the same as the NX200/210 image quality wise.
I compared the RAW quality (using the dpreview compare feature) NX210/200 to the Canon G1X and the Olympus E-PM3 (and many others), and almost always the pictures of the NX210/200 look much more washed out, soft and low contrast compared to other cameras that I would expect to be worse (of course the E-PM3 has more noise, but apart from that).

Is the RAW image quality (and JPEG as well) of the NX210/200 really that much worse than the G1X, the E-PM3 or most other cameras I compared it to? Or is something wrong with the NX200/210 test setup? Or is the 60mm 2.8 macro lens used in the NX210/200 setup that bad?

thx in advance!

I find the RAW quality pretty close to Sony 16 or 24 MP sensor, maybe a bit worse high ISO but comparable at base ISO.

Part of the problem is the RAW converters might not have as good of default values for the Samsung cameras (for Sony, Nikon, Canon, etc) they have good profiles that match in camera profiles pretty closely.

DXO Mark has ratings for the NX20.  It rates very well.  I also think the 60mm lens might be questionable as the top half of the NX image looks a bit soft, maybe some lens alignment issue or something else.  The lens is very good overall, not my favorite lens for the system but very nice.

Thank you very much for your insight. Also the lens really seems to be a bit soft in some areas, because i realized what I said above is only true for some parts of the image (middle-top).

thx

I think DPR did a very poor job on the test images for the NX cameras. I suggest you look at other testing sites like IR. Use the image compare tools and look at the resolution chart and you'll have it has better resolution than the Nex 6 and comparable to Nex 7.

I hope they'll do a better job with nx300, which is such a good camera.

Thanks, it's very good to know that I am not the only one thinking that. And thanks for the link, much better!

Sorry, I meant E-PL3 or E-PM or whatever, they all have the same sensor. You are right, there is no E-PM3
