Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM on a Rebel XS

Looking to rent this lens for my aging camera as a walk around lens for an upcoming trip to Key West. Currently, I have the Canon 10-22, Tamron 70-300 VC and the 18-55 kit lens. Does anyone have any experience with this lens on the Rebel XS or XSi?

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the old 18-55 non IS lens?   If you have the 18-55 IS, this lens would only give extra focal range, so a bit less lens swapping, and perhaps a bit more contrast (like the 10-22).

If you have the 18-55 non IS, it would be a good addition.

Re: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM on a Rebel XS

I've used the Canon 15-85 as my walking-around lens on my xsi on recent trips to Europe (twice), Florida, California, and Iceland.  Bought it to replace the kit 18-55 IS, mainly for the wide end but the length is appreciated too.  Combo has nice light weight and pretty compact.  I'm an amateur happy with this lens.

Am looking right now to upgrade my body to a t5i or t4i and get the 18-135 STM as my walking-around lens. But will probably miss the 15-85's wide angle for city shots!

I've been using this lens as my walkaround / travel (non-wildlife) lens for 3 years.

Absolutely great lens. As you know, for non-wildlife photos you always want wider instead of longer.

This lens is 20% wider than kit lenses and pretty much sharp throughout.

Right now I'm using it on a T2i and extremely satisfied.
