Yongnuo 622-C and 550EX (MkI)
I've been using my 5DMkIII and 550EX (Not 550EX II) with Yongnuo 603C triggers, with everything on manual, and it works fine except I can't do HSS. In fact the fastest shutter speed I can use is 1/160th with this setup, even if the flash is set for HSS.
I'm thinking of buying the YN 622-C, which I know will do ETTL with the EXII flashes. I don't care about being able to use the on-camera controls for flash either way. I'm mainly interested in having the 550EX set for HSS and being able to use shutter speeds of 1/200 and more with the 5Diii. Would the YN 622-C's work for me using the 550EX off camera?
Yes, the YN-622C will work fine. The limitation is that Flash mode, Zoom and Manual levels must be set on-flash.
Sync mode, E-TTL with FEC and Ratio can be handled from your camera.
More info in The Other YN-622C User Guide, esp. pp 4-5.
