Artistic statement or just post processing frenzy?
I think when people say that a photo is "overcooked" it is just a technical way of saying that they don't like that person's post processing choices. I prefer your second version of the flowers completely to the first.
Maybe the context of the image plays a important part? Honestly outside of the "technical data" deciding a picture is good or bad seems very subjective and opinion based.
Is this image part of some collection? Does it belong in a album with other sad and moody images? Etc etc.
To me it also feels a bit over processed and busy but that might just be because I've been getting a lot of friends spamming me their Instagram pictures recently XD
