Lighthouse at dusk C&C appreciated

This is another attempt at a previous photo I had taken. People had given suggestions to try taking it during dusk rather than night time. Curious on

I like the photo. How much PP did you do. Is the blue and red really that blue and red?

Hey Kent,

I adjusted the White balance a little bit in PP to enhance that blue slightly, but it was already pretty deep.

The lighthouse overall was a bit underexposed, so I increased exposure on it to create more contrast between the lighthouse and the sky, as it was getting a bit lost.

Overall, though, the PP was relatively minimal and the final product is very close to the in-camera original.

Hi Dan.  I recall this from your first post of this lighthouse.  The composition is very good but again I feel like the white balance is a little off.

Maybe it is just my perception, but I like it better.  Dave

David, I agree with your white balance. Seems to constantly be an issue with my images haha!

I, too, like the one you posted better, and think it gives better contrast betweent he lighthouse and the sky. Thanks for the input!

Hey Dquangt,

I used F/11, 2 sec exposure, iso 200,

I may try again tonight using a longer exposure time. Thoughts?

Is it just me or does the lighthouse look a little out of focus?

Nicely composed image which will benefit from futher processing as has been suggested by DN.

Re: Lighthouse at dusk C&C appreciated

I think I MIGHT like Dan's original version better than Dave's in this case, but would suggest (if you're not opposed to the idea) cloning out the four distracting walkway lights. The reason I like the original version better is I find it a little subtler. It doesn't "pop" like Dave's, but sometimes I prefer a more toned down image over one where the subject stands out so strongly. This scene seems like that approach could work here.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Capture! I will try working on cloning out the lights, still familiarizing myself with PS so I tried before but i botched it, and looked better leaving the lights in!

I like the lights, and would leave them.  They are there, so would look funny to anyone that knows the area.  I would like a little more light coming from the top of the lighthouse.  Dave
