Re: Just getting started

Good tones, I think the composition could be better.

EPL5 45mm and my GF

Wished I used more DOF, but I am not accomplished with portraits anyways. She is very happy with the shots, so that counts

Still here right eye is out of focus, but, oh well..

Try face-detection next time.

I have... but I find face-detection on rapid acquisition candids with multiple targets a sure-fire way to miss the "decisive moment."  It is mostly useful for me holding the camera at odd (one-handed outstretched) angles with standard-WA lenses, or for telephoto on static staged shots.  Otherwise, even the touch-to-shoot feature on the EM5 gets me a better hit rate.

Day After Easter Moonrise

Day after Easter Moonrise,     2013

Was messing around with my e-PL-1 and the Oly 75-150 & a table top tripod prior to lunch out with friends.
. Just about packed it in & saw this chimney n the horizon.
Brought it back, mulled it over,

Poked at it a bit.

The last 5%'ll kill ya so I left it " As Is "

like the expression on their face. wondering if those pics are converted to BW.

I miss going to B&W... back in the CS2 days I often used the fantastic plugin convert to B&W pro:

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/software/must-have.shtml

I had that process down to a science, and loved the results.  Unfortunately, with recent photoshop it no longer works (plugin was discontinued), and my old CS2 computer died a year ago.  I know there are other solutions, but I haven't found the will to start from scratch again.

Re: Majestic Neuschwanstein Castle

Now that is fantastic.  Where I live it is hard to get deep enough in the mountains after a storm to see that kind of site... having a castle in the middle of it all makes for quite the striking contrast.
