screech owl with D7100...
He must be there each year? The eyes look like they had to much of a unsharp mask applied seperate from the rest of him? A little to buggy.
Actually the whole bird was masked and a very light (34,4,2) applied. Otherwise the eyes are untouched.
Great shot, and what terrific camouflage, almost chameleon like in how well it blends with the bark.
What a fabulous shot! The fine detail resolution is simply amazing as is the handling of the low contrast subtle shades of colour. The eyes are breath-taking..., almost don't look real.
I'm new on this forum (first-time Nikon DSLR owner) and I'm really looking forward to seeing the high-quality wildlife images you and other here produce. Do you have your work posted on the net somewhere so I can take a look?
Gorgeous shot! I love screech owls (all owls, actually)...cool little birds. Thank you for sharing!
A friend got a couple outstanding shots with his D5100 of great horned owls checking him out when he got too close to their nest while training his bird dogs in North Dakota last week...really neat shots in flight that he posted in an upland hunting forum.
I have a gallery going back several years here: http://images.nikonians.org/galleries/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/66280 .
