GF1 to OMD: keep Pana lenses?

Many thanks everybody!

Based on your input I decided to sell GF1 but to keep Panasonic lenses. The only thing I'm on the fence is whether to keep 14-45 or sell it and get OMD with the 12-50 kit. On one hand I really like 14-45 for its sharpness and form factor but on the other hand it seems to be easier to ebay GF1 with a kit and 12-50 is a little more versatile though bigger/heavier and not that sharp.

The 12-50 has its advantages: good close-up ability, 12mm, weather-sealing.  But I only use it when I need to.  The 14-45 (or at least my copy) iso much nicer.  If I had to sell one, I'd be keeping the Lumix lens.

I wouldn't sell the Lumix G Vario 14-45/3.5-5.6, because it's still a great Kitlens, also with switchable OSS and a metal lens mount. The optical quality is 4 out of 5 stars, according to photozone, with the auto-correction (lens correction) on with the G1 body. I still have mine with the G1 and sometimes using it, raw mode only.

Depends on why you're upgrading really – the slow focusing speed was one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade from the Gf-1 in the first place, but you'll only really benefit from the faster focusing systems on the OM-Ds with newer lenses.

But if focusing speed isn't so important, then I don't think you have much to gain by buying new lenses.

The OMD including the 12-50mm only increases the price slightly, I would get the body + the lens.

And sell the Pany kit lens with the body.

The difference in sharpness is so little that in the real world it is barely noticeable, the 12-50mm is plenty sharp enough under most conditions

The size difference is not that great either, extended the Panasonic lens may even be slightly longer, I know the original 14-42 is.

The extra 4mm at the wide end of the 12-50mm is very useful and the macro and power zoom is pretty good, all in its a better lens than the Pany.
