Q: DA 300 and F1.7 X TC/ The Surfer
On a recent trip to Hawaii I got to try out the Q with this combo. The focus peaking is a godsend. This surfer was doing it the stand up way with a paddle and never seemed to fall down. It looked fun.
That's really "reaching out" there! The postman just delivered my Q tonight, I'm hoping to try it tomorrow and perhaps get the Pentax Q to K adapter and a DA 55-300 and try some shots. Ith DA 300 sounds like an incredible lens, but way beyond my budget. I digiscope to 6000 mm with some of my scopes (Swarovski ST80 and Meade ETX90) with my little Nikons, but the Q with "much" faster lenses is intriguing! Thanks for the long range shot - amazing reach for this little jewel!
Thanks Lin. The focus peaking on the Q makes it way easier to get long shots.
He was a long way out as you can see how small he is at 2800mm equivalent.
Dale, you seem to be a Q maestro
I'm a very enthusiastic shooter (have shot every format west of Medium) and have just ordered a Q (my regular main bodies these days are NEX 6 and 7).
I'm using Peaking a lot on my NEX, would you be kind enough to explain a bit how it's implemented on the Q ?
Thanks in advance !
Once you get your Q you need to go under Focus Setting under Page 1 of the main menu. Also check that you have the latest Q firmware installed as it allows you to set the focal length of the lens you are using. Focus peaking turns the Q into a useable MF camera. Also a viewfinder hood is needed for using in bright sunlight.
