Re: Wow, Brian, diner becomes dinner...

Thanks, it was one of a sequence I shot watching the crab spider making a complete mess of taking the Hoverfly.

They are usually very effective little ambush hunters, killing with a bite to the back of the neck but in this case it first grabbed it by the tail, then turned it around in about 3 moves to this position at which point it messed up and the Hoverfly flew off (I swear the crab spider looked p'eed off but that just me being anthropomorphic )

I'm lucky that my garden holds a lot of crab spiders, hoverflies (of many species) and loads of different bees so have had a lot of practise at watching and shooting this type of action.

This particular shot makes a great 15"x10" print and has won me several local and area print competitions, so is one of my favourites of its type

It is an ok lens and as any lens has it's weaknesses, yet has it's strengths.

I like these two.  So many of the images we see are cliches, it's nice to see something original.  I want to take photos like these!

what it does with very challenging light
1

Not necessarily favorites but these (which were shot last week in Arches NP) are examples of what the 12-50 does in the most challenging lighting situations - extreme variations of light, very high contrast, bad times of day, subjected to ferocious processing. CA was pretty manageable. All RAW, handheld, OMD, LR4
