Flash for SX50?
Sorry; hit the send button by accident.l
My question is simple: I don't want to buy Canon's recommended flash unit for my SX50 for more dough than the price of the camera itself! So has anyone had experience with using other flash units with this fine camera? I have a nice Vivitar unit left over from my old Nikon FE2 film SLR, and I am wondering if it would work on the SX50. I don't want to damage the latter of course. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I use the Yongnuo YN565EX. It's a knock off of the Canon 580 series, at a less than half price. Think it was $169 off of ebay. Does a great job with out door fill light. Plenty of power for inside bounce too.
Flashes for Canon Cameras should be six volts. Anything higher might cause some damage. Old Flashes here:
Not a flash but I bought a LED ring light at B&H for less than $30 that I use for fill light on my closeups. One nice thing is I just turn it on and can see where the shadows fall and can move it around as needed shot the photos and then turn it off. It is very handy out to about five feet. Takes two AA batteries.
