I like this one , nice gentle colours, and soft pleasing background. Reminds me of some of the examples Sue Bishop Shows in her various books on photographing flowers.

It's definitely the dreamy background that makes her shots Special. I  think I can say that I was also inspired by her to try these types of shots too. Great when it works.

+ 1 Big Fan of Sue Bishop

Thanks for the compliment!  She is a big influence.  I have given her credit in an earlier thread for introducing me to intentional camera movement in one of her books.  I have read all three of her beautiful books and await her next offering.  She reminds me of one of my favorite painters:  Georgia O'Keeffe.  Both are easier to emulate than Jackson Pollock.

Re: More Flowers, well why not?

Color for its own sake is fine with me.  These tulips are on the wane but the color is still pretty impressive.

One tulip stood out from the rest:

I subdued my inclination to alter reality and tried my best to render this guy as accurately as I could.  Reality was altered enough, I suppose.

Re: Red Stripe

I believe you posted this to the weekly contest thread.  The wonderful image is certainly welcome here!  Post more colorful images if you have them.  I don't think there is anything at all wrong with cross-posting the same image all over the place.  The only problem is if one uses the same image to start the same thread in several different forums.  That is annoying!

Re: Share an Image Because of its Color II

I always loved this shot for a couple of reasons.  One, being from the southwest I have never really seen locusts let alone this size, it was probably about 3 or more inches long.  I always thought they would be green or black too, not yellow.  The second thing that I love about this photo is how it looks like i was using selective coloring, but i definitely was not.  The only thing I did do was a little sharpening to the image, but that's it.
