I was in a comprimising position, I am training to ba a graphic designer and a digital camera is perfect for my needs.

However, I had the problem of deciding the camera I needed, I had to make a decision between the Coolpix 880, Toshiba PDR-M70 and the Canon Powershot S20.

I initially chose the Toshiba as it had soooo many good reviews and called out to me to be bought. However, I found it very hard to find a supplier and the product was scarce as production had halted for development of the new camera. Neway to cut the story short, I decided it would be bad to buy a camera so hard to locate, and if a problem arises, it would be even harder to get it fixed. Then the G1 showed up. I bought it 2 weeks later for £640, I was upset to part with this money, but money well spent. The camera is ductile and extremely easy to use. Image Quality is amazing and I have now learnt to use White balancing and other manual features. Only hesistate in buying this camera if funds are short or the boundaries for digital camera quality has moved alot further forward. STAR BUY

Problems:

The door to the Compact Flash slot is a little flimsy and although no probs yet, it is contrasted by the durability of the rest of the camera.

The short movie length. It seems a waste when such big capacity memory cards are available, yet you can only record 30 second of avi at a time. Hopefully a firmware update will cure this aspect.
