Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P50 review
In theory this is a good camera, but it has some serious flaws.
Battery life is the main problem for me. It will eat a pair of alkalines in about 10 minutes. This can be extended to about an hour if you get the Sony InfoLithium battery. FOR 60 POUNDS! The charger for the InfoLithium battery is 40 Pounds. That's 100 pounds to make it useable.
Luckily, one alternative is to use NiMH batteries. The ones I put in seem to last forever, well, compared to alkaline ones anyway. I would estimate the increase in battery life to be 5-10 X. I've taken about 40 shots, 1/2 with flash and the indicator is still showing 3/4 full.
Other problems are poor performance in low light and a rather feeble flash.
Having said that, the actual picture quality in good light is pretty good and the close-up macro pictures exceptionally good.
