Pentax Optio S4i review

Sold the S4i and got a SD300/IXUS40 Canon which is the same size with so-much better photos and stunning video.

S4i was Good= Very Compact, Easy Use, Good Ergonomics, Great Menu, Charge Cradle is Perfect!!
You cant take the photo if you are not carrying the camera and the S4i is my "always carry" camera.

Most image problems can be fixed with manipulation on PC. Just pretend it is a small 2mPix camera and you will be happy with it.

Also Own Nikon3700 (Great Video but Crap Menus - gave it to my wife) + CanonIXUS II (Great Camera but the lens broke) Used Digital cameras since 1993.

PROBLEMS= Very Noisy images for a 4mPix camera - looks like 1600asa film when on auto (now I leave it in USER Mode and force 50asa)
The ** image quality is beter than the *** .
Flash is puny/weak and no good over 1.8M + is slow to recharge.
The Screen is absolutely unreadable outdoors as it is not bright enough and turns into a mirror.
Lens image quality loss in the corners
Lots of barrel distortion in lens (no line is straight)

Pentax Optio S4i
4 megapixels • 1.8 screen • 35 – 105 mm (3×)
