I was looking for a stylish good quality camera I could pop in my pocket and carry around with me all the time. I'd been trying to get hold of a Contax i4r and had been outbid three times on ebay for one when Canon announced this little gem. Pre ordered it, paid much more than I should have, and love it to bits. Got the black version. Feels great in the hand, takes astonishly good photos, and is easily one of the most stylish and desirable designs around. With Kyocera pulling out of the digital market leaving a dark cloud over the Contax brand I was concerned I might miss the chance to get the i4r so went ahead and bought a black one from DCS. It's also beautiful, but compared to the i zoom it feels quite clunky and awkward to use, will keep it though as a meaningful piece of photography history which I think it will become.
The i zoom is a beautiful little camera, and I'm thoroughly enjoying using it.
