Pentax Optio S5n review

This is my second digital camera. I was looking for a competent camera that would fit easily into a pocket whilst travelling. It has so far lived up to expectations. The major plusses with the camera are:

- excellent selectable options for different types of shots
- panorama assist mode (works well with the supplied software)
- simplicity of use with the automatic green mode (although you can usually enhance your images by using the features where appropriate)
- quite decent movie mode
- night shot mode (eg sunset) is excellent.

You need to buy a SD card of at least 512 mb to have any real storage capacity. The camera's own internal memory is only 9.3MB

As with most small digitals, the results when using flash at night are sometimes dissapointing due to under exposure (maybe I need to work on this a bit).

The small rubber grip on the back side of the camera came adrift and was subsequently lost.

The battery life is adequate but the low battery warning creeps up fairly quickly. Ideally a spare battery would be a handy accessory.
