Fujifilm FinePix Z1 review

I received my Z1 recently and I recommmend it as a pocket camera. It is small
and fits nicely into most pockets. The picture quality is very good for what it
is. I've owned an s7000 for 2 years. I did not have any expectations that the
Z1 could compare in image quality. However, for an easy to use and quick,
carry anywhere camera, the Z1 is great! I took some experimental photos and
made some 4x6 prints and they were very good. Enlargements would not be
as nice. I would use the s7000 for that purpose. I also did some comparisons
with other brands of ultra compact cameras and I found the Z1 to be pretty
close to being on top. Maybe I'm brand loyal but I really thought that the
noise levels were lower, esp. at higher ISO ratings. Also, the large LCD screen
works wonderfully. It's very easy to see in all situations.

So, if you are looking for a very small, easy to use camera without manual
control, the Z1 may be for you. I recommend it as a second camera for those
who don't want to lug around the larger bridge cameras in certain situations.
That is the purpose for my purchase of the Z1.

Well, I could say some noise in the photos but it is to be expected in this class
of camera and it really isn't that bad in a 4x6 print. An AF assist lamp would
have been great. But I haven't really had too much trouble with the AF. A
little stronger flash? Well, again that is to be expected. The Z1 runs a bit
cheaper than the competition so I think it is well worth the money, even with
the shortcomings.
