Leica D-LUX 2 review
Almost perfect small camera!!
The camera has received a lot of criticism from people who've evidently never
actually even seen it, but the more that i use it, the more i've come to love it. It's
maybe not the best camera for casual point-and-shoot, but as an enthusiast's
compact, the camera rewards with truly beautiful images.
Write time for RAW is much faster than other 'owners' have stated on these pages:
down to around 2 or 3 seconds with a faster Sandisk card.
In fact, the camera is near-perfect - nice in the hand; fast; the lens is a MARVEL:
sharp all the way across the frame - and the colors are saturated and natural. It can
shoot 16:9, 4:3 or 3:2, and the best thing is how intuitive the manual controls feel
after just a few minutes of use.
I THOROUGHLY recommend the camera to those willing to use the manual settings -
and please don't believe what some of the 'reviewers' are writing on this page: for
some reason, there's a large group of people who bear some kind of grudge for
Leica, and simply want to bad-mouth them, regardless of whether they've ever
actually even seen or tried the camera for themselves.
Obviously, in common with almost everyone, i'd prefer the sensor to be less noisy -
ESP at higher ISOs. If indoor, low-light photography is your thing, then choose
(Having said that, i'm amazed by how noisy some other cameras are that seem to have
escaped this criticism - take a look at full-size captures form the Ricoh GRd to see what
i mean, for instance).
Otherwise NO PROBLEMS at all!
