Nikon Coolpix S7c review
I am an amateur photographer and I have used/owned a coolpix 950, d70 and d200 as well as the sony dsc707.
I bought this camera well knowing its limitations but I still decided to keep it for the following three reasons:
first and foremost, it fits in my pocket.
it is a great macro camera. The flash is set near the lens so the subject is illuminated. Focusing takes patience but with proper zoom setting it becomes easier. Zoom in if you want good macro shots. The big LCD makes previewing easier.
I also like the timelaps function - I have it on my d200 but honestly, I don't want to use the d200 hours at a time doing timelaps movies! this thing can be hidden/stowed on a tree or a rock and collected later. Timelapse can be shot in a smallres movie, or as an image stack at full resolution.
Battery life sucks - as it does with all LCD cameras - I get about 100 shots handheld and 350 timelapse (LCD turns itself off)
no viewfinder. If you want a viewfinder, don't get this model.
no long exposure
super high noise at higher iso's
the small lens does not handle detail in corners well
