Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z2 review

This camera is used for over 2 years as "family cam".
Images are very clear and bright, even higher ISO-settings are usable if you don´t make big prints.
Autofocus is very fast and good.
My parents use the camera in Auto-mode, I with M, A or S - it makes no really difference, the pictures are always very good. I was surprised that they were better than the pictures of my Canon Powershot S3 IS. I think it beats the shit out of some today 8MP upwards "style cams" and even some other "megazooms".

The build quality is solid, unfortunately the tripod mount is only plastic. Overall its very light, so shooting with one hand is no problem.

The camera works well with all SD-cards up to 2 GB. 4 GB tried but it doesn´t work(I think because of FAT32). But this isn´t a problem, because of the only 4 MP(who needs really more???) over 1000 pictures in best quality would fit on a 2 GB card - I think this is more than enough.

Problems:

Like above: 4 GB SD-cards don´t work.
Movie quality is a bit poor for today standards, especially the sound(only 32kbps mono!) and you hear the autofocus.
Image stabilisation would be nice, so the full 380mm are only usable with high ISO-settings, in the summer or with a tripod. But if you don´t act like a chump that has drunk too much coffee this isn´t a problem. Mostly the shoots at long tele end are good and not shaken.
