Pentax Optio WP review

Nice camera, waterproof...and aweful. It is a good
design, it is attractive, it is easy to use, it has decent battery life, and it really is
waterproof. It just doesn't take good pictures. I would guess that 50% of the time
its results are sub-standard, and 25% of the time the pictures are so bad they
wouldn't be useable. Between underexposing, poor autofocus, and aggressive
noise reduction erasing detail, you'll wonder if the camera is really 1 MP instead of
5 MP. Honestly, I've seen cell phone cameras take better pictures that this camera
at times.

It is, however, waterproof and even seems to take relatively better pictures under
the water than over it. So if you want the hassle-free options this camera provides
under rainy, muddy, sandy, or other conditions which would ruin typical cameras,
you will be happy. If you're expecting a typical 5MP pocket camera that just
happens to be waterproff, you'll be dissapointed.

Other than the lousy images, no problems.
