Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 review

There is no camera today (Jan. 2007) that can offer the same features as the A2. Not all the features are really well implemented, but they are there, making the 3 year old A2 camera competive with really expensive cameras of 2007 for SOME aplications.
- Live view with live histogram
- WYSIWYG LCD or EVF, helps exposure.
- EVF usable in low light (in black and white)
- 8 megapixels
- High resolution EVF (only one of its kind)
- 3 fps RAW continuous shooting up to 3 frames, buffer clears in 12 seconds !!! (firmware version 1.14)
- 3 fps jpeg continuous shooting, unlimited number of frames until your card is full !!! (firmware version 1.14)
- 7 fps !!! at ~2 megapixles.
- Manual zoom ring
- Manual focus ring
- Flex magnifier (magnifies image on EVF or LCD to aid in focusing).
- Battery/portrait grip (optional)
- Outstanding KM flash system (now sony)
- Anti-shake
- Lots of buttons and levers for all the controls on the body, no going through menus.

A lot of cameras have some of these features, but NONE have them all. So what does the A2 do realy well?
- Close-up fotography (and macro, with accessory lenses), from a tripod. Easy to focus manually with manual focus ring and flex magnifier.
- Landscape, from a tripod at ISO 64.
- Portraits (at ISO 200 max).

The A2 is not good for:
- Sports and action photography (slow to focus)
- Wildlife and birds in flight (lens not long enough)

Problems:

First camera not working. Replaced by 17th Street photo with no hassle.
