Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (Dynax 5D) review

I have been a semi-pro photographer for fourty years-plus. The KM-5D is my first digital camera. I spent quit awhile researching digital camers in its price range before buying my KM-5D. I could have had a Nikon, Canon or Pentax for the same or nearly the same price, but price was not the issue for me. The many great features was a big deciding factor for me to choose the KM-5D. Anti-Shake built into the body, ISO to 3200 ( because I do a lot of available light shooting ) are but two of the many. The way I see it a camera is nothing more than a tool to achieve an end result. If you are going to shoot quick pics of the family at Christmas, buy a point and shoot. If you want more flexability in your creativity, buy an SLR or a rangefinder.
I have read quite a few of the reviews on this site and it seems to me that the greatest precentage of the KM-5D owners are more than happy with their camera. Every camera company makes a bad camera once in awhile and if you dig hard enough you will find them. I am sorry for those who have received a bad camera in the past, but "One bad apple does not spoil the whole barrel!"
At ONLY 6 megapixals I can give you an 8X10 photo you could cut yourself on it is so sharp! My printer only will print out an 8X10 max anyway so who needs more? JPEGS for web-sites do not have to be a very large file.
If you are going print 11X14's, 16X20's or larger or do a lot of cropping you might need more megapixals. On the other hand if you take the time to compose your shot, when you push the shutter button you have the finished shot ( with the exception of maybe some processing ) there is no need to crop.
Having said all that, I have owned my KM-5D for nearly a year and I love it, it is a shame they are no longer being made. I you can still find one BUY IT!
There is the remote possibility you could get a bad one, but you could also get a bad Nikon, Pentax, Canon or any other brand as well. I have read reviews on some very high-end pro models that were far less than favorable. Know what you are going to use your camera for then buy according to your needs.

Problems:

UPDATE: The card ejector button on my 5D has stopped working. Not a problem! I read in one of the earlier reviews that someone else had the same problem. Well....here's a tip. You do not need it! Just hook your thumb nail under the lip of the card and pull it up. Works great, saves time and costly repairs. Works for me!
