Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 review

Image stabilization is very helpful.
Dynamic range is very good; underexposing by .3 to .6 stop, low contrast and then adjusting range with a curves tool provides very nice images.
Excellent lens.
Many choices for image processing in camera.
Lightweight, silent if you choose. Can turn off external monitor for stealth photography that doesn't bother others.
Nice zoom range.
Usable flash.

Problems:

Vague autofocus.
Autofocus fails to capture moving grandchildren quickly enough.
Vignetting at 28 mm from filters or lens hood.
Internal screen is dim in sunlight, hard to judge accuracy of focus without using the magnify feature.
The images always look better in print or on screen than in the camera display - better dynamic range.
Like all digicams, auto exposure creates blocked highlights.
Early parts failure - at less than 3 years, the function-selector switch began to fail, the camera software began to crash, picture noise level increased dramatically in occasional images, rubber eyepiece protector came adrift.
Fixed price for repair - $300USD is as much as a replacement P+S.
Hard to learn for the neophyte.
RAW+JPEG so slow as to be essentially unusable, in my judgment.
