Pentax Optio A30 review

I always was a supporter of Pentax cameras and i started to take photos more then 20 years ago with the reflex Pentax 30T. I was looking for a compat easy to care digital camera. I bought Optio A30 expecting stellar performances both for the price and the 10 Megapixel frame. I was surprised for the different behaviour with natural light and flash indoor. Outdoor photos are sharp with good details and warm colours. Indoor pictures are dark and grainy because camera automatically chooses high ISO values. I tried to force 64 and 100 ISO with +1EV and spot exposure metering, but images are however bad.
Focusing is very good also in dark situations for the light beam, and shake reduction works very well.
Movies are poor in quality, but this was not my main interest. Battery charge is short but I think it depends mainly on the shake reduction device.
The construction quality is very good and the display is very clear and light.

- short battery charge
- bad quality of flash indoor pictures
- bad quality of divx movies

Pentax Optio A30
