Canon PowerShot SD790 IS (Digital IXUS 90 IS) review
Let me start by saying that I sold my A720IS to obtain the SD790IS. Very happy I did!
I had made my research on pocket cams and the SD790IS came in highly recommended everywhere!
Battery is beyond what I expected. Canon states 320 pics on one charge. I took aprox 220 which 70% of those using the flash. Power on/off at least 50 times. Took long vids between 1 to 5 minutes. Played with the setup menus a very long time on top of all that. LCD on all the time during those tests and it decided to quit after all those tests!
The IS is great especially for people that have the shakes!
Pic quality is awesome! Better than I expected!
Video has a great quality and sound on them is OK.
CHDK is being developed for this cam! If you don't know what that is, Google it and you might like to give it a shot!!
Fast boot-up to snap pics!
Image Quality is superior than most in it's class
Great flash for such a small cam!
Great in low light when in manual mode
Good features (could have more manual ones)
Fantastic Battery Life!
Fantastic 3" LCD
Built like a tank
External Flash can be attached to it!
CHDK can be used! (in Dev!)
Corners are dark in wide when flash is used (common with small cams)
Manual mode could have more options
Flash recycle time could be quicker but good enough for me
Not so good over ISO400
To conclude, I was looking for a cam that I could lug around in my pockets that can take great pics. This camera gives me that and WAY more! I highly recommend the SD790IS!
