I received this lens used, second hand. The only thing I can say good about it is I sold it for more than was paid for it, somehow.

This one had the built in focus motor for Nikon cameras. The focus was jumpy and there was no instantaneous override of the focus and the external focus ring moved with focusing. I don't have much need for the instant override, but not turning while focusing is a big benefit over the Nikon version. Build quality was poor, it didn't not feel like it was assembled well. Zooming was not smooth and fluid like I would expect. Fitment was sloppy.

Focusing was inaccurate at times, and had trouble locking on at longer focal lengths, probably because of the very slow long end at F6.3. It was next to impossible for me to get a sharp image at 200mm zoom.

For someone on a budget, I guess it could be a decent lens, but I was happy to pay almost 3 times as much for the Nikon copy.

Problems:

Slow focus, poor telephoto performance, poor build quality

Keyboard shortcuts
