At different times and conditions there are a myriad creatures in any place, it's just a matter of being there and being relaxed enough to see.

And this is a baby Neon Cuckoo Wasp, from one of the nesting blocks I drilled earlier in the year.

The middle shot was at fl 28.5 but the fz50 has a 35-420 lens. How did you get it to 28.5 ?

The reported focal lengths are actual, physical focal length. 35-420 is the 35mm equivalent focal length - the actual focal length of the FZ50 is 7.4-88.8 as stated on the front of the lens:

Actual and equivalent, yes. Plus for macro there are usually two achromats stacked on it, +12 (+) dioptre.

Thank you, I wish you could post a pic of one of your set-ups. The lighting, resolution, etc. is very good and a pic of a set-up would be educational to say the least ! Also, the macro web site where more pics are posted seemed sparse of tech data and gear used, is that listed elsewhere ?

There are pix of my setup/gear on my sig link - http://beingmark.com/macro-illustrated/ - if that's the one you are saying is sparse on tech/gear you are right, it's not about gear or technical data, there are no end of such sites. Mine is more about the art of macro, with the basic tech principles outlined for anyone who wants to do it, almost everything is there. The gear is whatever you are comfortable with, it doesn't really matter as you make accommodations for the specific characteristics, necessarily so. Research, and much practise, is necessary to find your way.

Thanks Steve. Guys like you save me having to work it all out. That's the way I am; I find a nugget and explore it until it can reveal no more and move on. Many a miner have given me nuggets to explore - trust I am making sense here ...
