Which filter adapter size, 67 or 58 mm is better for the Canon SX50 HS and why?

Users have reported that both of the 67 and 58 mm filter adapter can fit the Canon SX50 HS though the Canon lists the adapter size is 67 mm. Can experts tell which size is better and why?

I don't know about better but 58mm filters are much less expensive than 67mm filters.  Lensmate has a nice 58mm adapter for about $20

I also have the 58mm adapter from Lensmate.  I chose 58mm because I have filters that size already.

The 67mm is large, very large and looks weird, at least to me, on the front of the camera. If you use a sunshade, it is huge! It is a matter of aesthetes because both will work without interference with your camera lens. Check Amazon.  The adapter is not expensive.

These are just some pictures of how the 67mm filter adapter and lens looks on the camera. I don't have a 58mm one and I've never seen how it looks on the camera.

Buy whatever is best for you.

For me since my DSLR lenses are 77mm and 67mm I bought the 67 adapter and have a kit of variable filter adapters so my 77mm filters will work on all my cameras/lenses. Easiest for me, a no brainer. The one other reason to go for 67mm is you can go a little thicker before you would have any vignetting.
