FL300-R Flash on a Olympus E-3

i am looking for a compact (wireless) flash for my travelkit.

Does anybody have experience with the Fl300-R in combination with the Olympus E-3?

And yes i have the 50R, but i always leave it in the room.... too big.

Re: FL300-R Flash on a Olympus E-3

On the up side, it will be like an FL-36/R on steroids (four batteries instead of two). Which will bring it close to perfection.

On the flip side - no more discreet red AF illuminator. There's some ugly video pilot illuminator which will probably work, but it will be just as discreet as the ugly strobo epilepsy trap original illuminator of the E-3.

I think you are referring to the FL600R using four AA batteries [I have it and it is fairly smal (9 oz) and works well on E5].  The FL300 uses 2 AAA batteries.  It should work and has limited bounce capabilities. however the guide number is only 28 (ISO 200), so it would be limited in range.

http://www.olympus.nl/site/nl/c/cameras_accessories/pen_om_d_cameras_accessories/pen_om_d_flash_systems/fl_300r_1/index.html

i realy mean the 300 which is small and light,

i know it is limited in output, but it is wireless, making it possible to take it of for macro work,

I have the big 50R, which is much more potent, but too bldy big and heavy... to carry around all the time so it tends to end up in my suitcase only seeing action with podium shots.

So realy looking for some compact stuff, if needed in conjunction with a difusser like: http://dx.com/p/30cm-mini-flash-speedlight-diffuser-for-slr-white-179278 which should be here in a couple of weeks. for either the internal or external flash.
