Repair a Canon 18-55 IS... worth it?
Accidentally I dropped my 18-55 IS, and now it has trouble while focusing... apparently, it only focuses on the top right spots, but not in the center nor bottom left... it doesn't make strange sounds, well, at least nothing worrying, but.. my guess is that it lost its alignment or something..
My question is about the experience from other members, about repairing their lenses...
Thanks in advance!
the repair will exceed the value of the lens, around $80.
They go for like $80-90 used. By the time you pay shipping and even a minimum labor cost, you are above that.

80 bucks??? WHERE!?!??!
thats for the non stabilized version! mine is IS II !!
The version II is only a cosmetic change, so don't concern yourself with that. Both of the IS versions have the same AF motor and internal optics
Plenty more like it. If you prefer the v2 they are maybe $10-20 more, but like I said they are the same lens other than the coloring of the body.
buy another & dont bother with a filter they are cheap as chips & very sharp IS versions only
