Advice on converting a 400D to IR

Hi,

I have upgraded from a 400D to a 6D and am considering converting the 400D to IR. I know you can send it to a company in Great Britain and get it done but I have heard that it is easy to do it yourself.

Any tips are welcome. Has anyone here perhaps done the same thing? Any links to tutorials etc...

/ Martin

This doesn't sound 'easy.'

Re: Advice on converting a 400D to IR

I converted a Pentax DL to IR a few years back. The conversion process could be daunty if you don't have the experience disassembling/assembling small electronic gadgets. But the bigger problem is not the conversion process itself. Check out this site (http://ir-photo.net/ir_mod.html) to find out what you are up against before you take your 400D apart. That being said, I will most likely convert my XSi (450D) to IR again when I upgrade it. For one thing I can use more pixels than the 6MP sensor chip of Pentax DL provides (it essentially becomes a 1.5MP camera because only the red sensors are sensitive to IR wavelength). For another 450D's sensor chip has lower noise.

Thanks for the link....

Not too easy no. Maybe it's worth the money to have them do it for me...
